such a hot day

even the sun-lover sings

in praise of shadows Sonja

at the seaside park

an unused chessboard Michael

the moon

filtering through the pines

one with the wind Sonja

headache—

our station wagon

winding through the woods Michael

on the baby’s T-shirt

“Don’t get on my dark side” Sonja

we stop our argument

in the alpine tunnel . . .
