a cardinal in the grass Wilda

in the groomsman’s lapel

a drooping carnation Michael

misdirected Frisbee

chased again

into the tulip bed Wilda

Father’s Day—

a clutch of dandelions

in my daughter’s hand Michael

stopping to smell

the purple lilacs Wilda

mole hills

in fresh-cut grass

pushing up the daisies Michael
