tea party

my daughter insists

that I wear her doll hat Michael


a row of bonnets displayed

at the coal mining museum Ray


rip of the chain saw

an acorn plunks

on the foreman’s hard hat Michael


chill wind

I reach again

for my missing toque Ray


a tasseled sombrero

for the birthday boy Michael


bickering women

the straw hat

bends my ears Ray
